Harus berakhir di laga melawan Iran, yang notabene merupakan unggulan juara lainnya.

Tidak heran, mata Falcao tampak sembab langkah gontai pun terlihat dari Falcao dan beberapa rekan setimnya.

“Saya seharusnya senang melihat karier saya berakhir dengan sebuah catatan hat-trick.

Namun rupanya tidak, sebab gol tersebut tidak berarti apa-apa [bagi tim ini],” ucap Falcao sesuai pertandingan.

“Gol-gol yang saya buat tidak bermakna apa-apa karena mereka hanya membuat rekor saya tampak bagus saja.

Andai saya bisa mengubah semua yang sudah saya lakukan di turnamen ini, termasuk gol, dengan sebuah gelar juara dunia, saya tentu akan melakukannya.”

Kegagalan yang Membuatnya Menutup Diri

Seperti halnya anak-anak Brasil lain, sepakbola dianggap lebih dari sekadar aktivitas rekreasi.

Menjadi pesepakbola adalah pekerjaan impian bagi anak-anak Brasil, jauh melebihi seorang karyawan perusahaan maupun wiraswasta.

Falcao pun demikian. Sepakbola bukan lagi di anggap sebagai sekadar olahraga untuk menghabiskan waktu di masa senggang, tapi jalan menuju pundi-pundi uang.

Tak heran, ia rela menghabiskan banyak waktu di jalanan Sao Paulo, untuk menguji seberapa kuat dan pandai ia bermain sepakbola.

Santos menjadi kesebelasan yang ia dukung sejak kecil. Alasannya jelas, keberadaan Pele. Nama Pele memang di anggap sebagai idola yang tak akan pernah bisa ia kejar.

Tidak heran, ia begitu tersanjung ketika disamakan dengan pemain yang memenangi tiga Piala Dunia bersama timnas Brasil tersebut.

Kesempatan untuk bermain di tim sepakbola pada akhirnya hadir ketika ia mendapat kesempatan bermain mengikuti masa percobaan di Santos.

Namun, impian Falcao atlet futsal asal Brazil pada akhirnya harus pudar usai ia di anggap tidak memiliki kemampuan cukup bagus.

Kegagalan tersebut membuat Falcao mulai menutup diri atas ajakan beberapa kesebelasan sepakbola dan membuat ia lebih fokus untuk meniti karier di dunia futsal.

Setelah 10 tahun lebih menghabiskan karier di dunia futsal, nama Falcao kembali di hubung-hubungkan dengan sepakbola.

Kali ini, Sao Paulo disebut menginginkan jasanya pada musim 2005. Ketertarikan Sao Paulo terhadap Falcao berlanjut hingga proses negosiasi di mana kakak Falcao bertemu dengan presiden klub, Marcelo Portugal Gouvea, yang pada akhirnya membuat Falcao resmi berseragam Sao Paulo.

Meski demikian, transisi gaya dari futsal ke sepakbola begitu sulit. Salah satu pemain Sao Paulo, Cicinho, menyebut meski Falcao dribble di atas rata-rata, namun ia bukan tipikal pemain yang mampu terus bergerak.

Bukan hanya itu, Falcao rupanya di sebut memiliki hubungan tak harmonis dengan pelatih Sao Paulo, Emerson Leao.

Tapi tak di sangka, karier sepakbola Falcao selesai di akhir musim 2005 usai tidak ada tawaran perpanjangan kontrak baru dari manajemen klub.

Ia pun berkata, “Saya terpilih pemain futsal terbaik dunia di tahun 2004. Tapi dengan situasi seperti ini, prestasi saya seakan ternoda.”

Menahbiskan Diri Sebagai Legenda Futsal

Buruknya karier Falcao di dunia sepakbola berbanding terbalik dengan apa yang sudah ia ciptakan untuk futsal. Beragam prestasi sudah ia dapatkan dalam 27 tahun kariernya di lapangan futsal.

Di usia yang telah memasuki 39 tahun, ia masih merupakan yang terbaik di dunia. Kesempurnaan Falcao didukung statistik istimewa; 932 gol dalam 697 penampilan di level klub serta 339 gol dalam 201 penampilan untuk timnas Brasil di ajang internasional, dengan menghasilkan 25 gelar.

Untuk urusan gelar pribadi, Falcao juga rajanya. Ia empat kali mendapatkan gelar empat kali pemain terbaik di dunia.

Belum lagi catatannya saat menjadi pencetak gol terbanyak di Piala Dunia Futsal 2004 dan pemain terbaik di Piala Dunia Futsal 2004 dan 2008.

Soal penampilan di level domestik, Falcao tak jauh dari kata terbaik. Meski kerap berganti klub, Falcao tidak sedikit pun menunjukkan penurunan penampilan.

Dua contoh kesebelasan yang berhasil ia bawa adalah Corinthians di musim 1992-96 serta Associação Desportiva Jaraguá and Malwee Futsal [Malwee/Jaragua Futsal].

Dalam total 300 penampilan di dua klub tersebut, Falcao mampu membuat total 409 gol. Prestasi terbaiknya, membawa Malwee/Jaragua Futsal menjuarai Copa Libertadores 2005.

Torehan apik tersebut menunjukkan bagaimana Falcao di lapangan. Tidak hanya soal istimewanya ia saat menjebol gawang lawan, tapi juga mempertontonkan bagaimana wujud tarian samba di atas lapangan.

Pujian pun mengalir deras kepadanya, tak terkecuali sebagai bentuk Pele di atas lapangan futsal.

Konsistensi permainan yang tak pernah menurun membuat ia layak disebut sebagai salah satu nama terbaik yang pernah menghiasi lapangan futsal.
